Digital Safety

Cwmtawe takes Digital Safety extremely seriously and our students are continuously educated about the dangers of the internet throughout the year. This is achieved through IT lessons, pastoral lessons and school assemblies. Our Frog VLE has a dedicated Digital Safety page with practical help and advice and our web filters track, monitor and block inappropriate websites where necessary.

We are acutely aware that pupils also use a range of devices to connect to the internet outside school. Parents and carers are encouraged to contact us to seek advice if required on keeping their children safe online whilst at home. More information for parents, carers and pupils can be found on the Welsh Government’s HWB site and CEOP’s ThinkUKnow website.

Top Tips for Parents/Carers to keep children safe online

  1. Use internet filtering software and child-friendly search engines. Use your web browser's controls as some offer differing degrees of security for each family member.
  2. Check out what child protection services your Internet Service Provider (ISP) offers - do they filter for spam, for instance? If not, ask them why.
  3. Keep the computer in an area of the house where it's easier to monitor what your children are viewing.
  4. Tell children not to give out their personal details. If they want to subscribe to any services online, make up a shared family email address to receive the mail.
  5. Children love to chat, but make sure they only use moderated chat rooms and encourage them to introduce you to their online friends.
  6. Encourage your children to tell you if they feel uncomfortable, upset or threatened by anything they see online.
  7. Involve your children in writing your own family code of acceptable internet use. Remember that what's acceptable for a teenager isn't necessarily OK for a primary school-aged child, so get their input.
  8. Computer equipment is expensive so bear in mind that a child with a laptop may be vulnerable when carrying it to and from school.
  9. The web is a great resource for homework, but remember to use more than one site in research to get broad, balanced information and always reference your research sources.
  10. Surf together. Go online with your children and become part of their online life. The key to safe surfing is communication.

Diogelwch Digidol

Mae Cwmtawe yn trafod diogelwch digidol o ddifrif ac addysgwn ein disgyblion yn gyson am beryglon y we trwy gydol y flwyddyn. Gwneir hyn mewn gwersi technoleg gwybodaeth, gwersi bugeiliol ac mewn gwasanaethau ysgol. Mae gan ein Frog VLE dudalen Diogelwch Digidol sy’n rhoi cymorth ymarferol a chyngor. Mae ein ffiltrau we yn arolygu ac yn rhewi gwefannau amhriodol.

Rydym yn llwyr ymwybodol bod disgyblion yn defnyddio amrywiaeth o declynnau i gysylltu â’r we y tu allan i’r ysgol. Anogir rhieni a gofalwyr i gysylltu â ni i gael cyngor ar gadw eu plant yn ddiogel ar y we yn y cartref. Gall rhieni, gofalwyr a disgyblion gael mwy o wybodaeth ar Hwb Llywodraeth Cymru a gwefan CEOP’s ThinkUKnow.

Canllawiau i rieni/gofalwyr gadw plant yn ddiogel ar lein:-

1. Defnyddio meddalwedd ffiltro y we a modur archwilio addas i blant. Defnyddiwch reoleiddiwr eich we gan fod rhai yn cynnig gwahanol fathau o ddiogelwch ar gyfer pob aelod o’r teulu.

2. Edrychwch ar y gwasanaethau diogelwch plant ar eich darparydd gwasanaeth we (ISP) – a oes ganddynt ffiltr spam, er enghraifft? Os nad oes, gofynnwch pam.

3. Cadwch y cyfrifiadur mewn ardal o’r ty sy’n hwyluso’r gwaith o arolygu beth mae eich plant yn gwylio.

4. Dywedwch wrth blant am beidio rhoi manylion personol. Os hoffent danysgrifio i wasanaethau ar lein, dyfeisiwch gyfeiriad ebost teuluol i dderbyn post.

5. Mae plant yn dwlu sgwrsio ond sicrhewch mai dim ond ystafelloedd sgyrsio cymhedrol a ddefnyddiant ac anogwch nhw i’ch cyflwyno i’w ffrindiau ar lein.

6. Anogwch eich plant i ddweud wrthych os ydynt yn teimlo yn anghyfforddus, yn anhapus neu wedi eu bygwth gan unrhywbeth a welsant ar lein.

7. Cynhwyswch eich plant mewn trafodaethau ar ddyfeisio cod defnydd o’r we sy’n dderbyniol. Cofiwch nad yw’r hyn sy’n dderbyniol i blentyn yn ei arddegau o reidrwydd yn addas ar gyfer plentyn ysgol gynradd. Rhaid trafod y mater.

8. Mae offer cyfrifiadurol yn ddrud felly cofiwch hynny os yw eich plentyn yn cario cluniadur yn ôl ac ymlaen o’r ysgol.

9. Mae’r we yn adnodd gwych ar gyfer gwaith cartref ond cofiwch ddenfyddio mwy nag un safle i ymchwilio er mwyn cael gwybodaeth eang a chytbwys. Rhaid bob amser gyfeirnodi ffynonellau ymchwil.

10. Syrffiwch y we gyda’ch gilydd. Ewch ar lein gyda’ch plentyn a dewch yn ran o’u bywyd ar lein. Mae cyfathrebu yn allweddol i syrffio’r we yn ddiogel.
