Extra Curricular
Academic
Our pupils develop a wide range of knowledge, skills and understanding during their five years at Cwmtawe. In addition to learning new subject content, we also focus on developing skills which will benefit them in further and higher education, as well as in the world of work.
Key Stages
Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 are known as key stage 3. These years set the foundation in preparation for GCSE studies. Pupils acquire a broad range of knowledge and develop key skills across many subjects.
During Year 9, they will study their ‘option’ subjects. These are the subject areas they will specialise in to GCSE level. These GCSE years are known as key stage 4.
XL reviews
Pupil progress is monitored regularly and reported termly via your child’s report. On the relevant page, you will see a breakdown of how your son/daughter is performing in each of their subjects.
Annual Report
You will receive three reports per year on your child's performance - two interim summary reports and a full annual progress report. This outlines your child’s performance in each subject area, detailing key strengths and areas for development.
Parents’ Evenings
All parents are encouraged to attend their child’s Annual Parents’ Evening. This gives you an opportunity to discuss progress with each of your child’s subject teachers. It is an ideal opportunity to see what your child is learning and discuss ways you can help at home. The dates for all Parents’ Evenings are available from our calendar page.
